KOSD is honored to be one of 23 recipients of San Diego Foundation's 2026 Growing Green Spaces program. We have received grant funding in order to expand our community gardens and shaded outdoor green spaces surrounding our Global Marketplace using climate-smart practices. On August 18, 2026, KOSD hosted a cooking class for our Senior Club. Eleven seniors joined, and the EDP team and Christina from Berry Good Food helped with the supplies, preparation, and running the class. They even brought lunch for our seniors! We started by doing some light exercise and playing icebreaker games, and then we transitioned to cooking class. We worked together to make the rice ball dessert, with some seniors preparing the coconut and others making the dough. While the food was cooking, we had lunch together. After lunch, the rice balls were ready for all of us to enjoy. Overall, it was a successful class full of laughter, teamwork, and great food.
Our Community Gathering Market is coming back this weekend and you don't want to miss it! Our community vendors sell produce that is rarely, if even at all, available at grocery stores. Make sure you come early to get these limited goods...at our last market almost everything sold out within the first 3 hours!
