1. Community Program Assistant     

Status:  Part-time, 20-30 hours/ week   Start Date: August 17, 2020

Under the direction of the Community Program Manager, Community Program Assistant is primarily responsible to serve clients through KOSD’s Community Programs including case management services, community workshops, and small business support program for refugees or former refugees from Burma in San Diego.

Responsibilities:

    1. Providing Support for KOSD’s Community Program
    • Provide assistant for clients of case management services and small business support program.
    • Coordinate community workshops and training.
    • Provide community outreach for community workshops and training.
    • Provide community outreach for small business support program.
    • Provide Burmese interpretation at community meetings and workshops.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.
    1. General
    • Represent KOSD at community and partner meetings.
    • Work with other KOSD staff to plan and coordinate special events.
    • Attend professional development trainings and weekly staff meetings.

Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team, handle difficult and stressful situations, and work with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
    • Passion to work with refugee and immigrant populations.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Burmese. Additional language skills (Karen, Karenni, etc) are plus.
    • Must have reliable transportation.

2. Community Distribution Specialist     

Status: Part-time, 20 hours/ week        Start Date: August 17, 2020

Under the direction of the Executive Director, Community Distribution Assistant is primarily responsible to provide support for KOSD’s food and supply distribution for refugee or former refugee families from Burma in San Diego.

Responsibilities:

    1. Providing Support for KOSD’s Food and Supply Distribution Program
    • Coordinate with the KOSD team and food/ supply donation sites on weekly distribution.
    • Driving KOSD’s van to pick up and transport food and supply donations.
    • Loading and unloading supplies on KOSD van.
    • Maintaining KOSD van’s cleanliness after each distribution.
    • Coordinating food distribution days at KOSD or delivery for families.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    • Attend professional development trainings and weekly staff meetings.

Qualifications:

    •  Must have reliable transportation with a clean driving record.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team, handle difficult and stressful situations, and work with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
    • Passion to work with refugee and immigrant populations.
    • Excellent oral communication skills in Karen and/or Burmese. Good oral communication skills in English.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, and move for several hours at a time.
